Niagara men charged with counterfeiting

WELLAND, Ont. (CP)

Police say they have broken a counterfeit ring responsible for thousands of dollars worth of bogus bills circulating in the Niagara Region and surrounding areas.

After a raid on a local home early today, Niagara Regional Police seized fake Canadian $10 and American $20 bills, a computer system and other equipment used to make money. Two men were arrested.

Ryan Kore, 19, of Wainfleet, Ont., and James Mattiazzo, 19, of Welland, Ont., face counterfeiting charges. Mattiazzo is also charged with breach of recognizance, police said. More arrests are expected as the police continue their probe.
